Work placement - Internship - Traineeship - Jobstep

(print PDF file and keep it on the notice board of your school or library)

Consider traineeship - It is worthwhile:

Traineeship is a position in degrees varies from being voluntary to compulsory. Any work experience, but particularly work experience in your own field of study, will help you integrate into society and the labour market.

Now is the time to be active if you wish to train during the following year, especially if you wish to get international or local funding. In many schools, you should start to apply for a grant during the fall because fFunds are usually distributed at the beginning of the year. The first step for you is to find out how training is arranged in your school / faculty / department. There is a contact person for traineeships in every school / faculty / department.

How to obtain a training place?

Every school / faculty / department can fund a limited number of traineeships. International or local Funding is usually allocated for degree students who are in the final stages of their studies. A student can receive a funding for a certain period of time.

Practices vary in different schools/ faculties/departments. For example, in some schools or faculties after receiving funding, a student has a couple of weeks only to independently look for a traineeship. If a student can not find a place, he or she loses the grant and it will go to another student.

Since the number of traineeship grants is limited, not every student who wishes to get funding and who meets the requirements can get it. The student should use his/her own resources to do the traineeship sometimes.

Find your own traineeship:

Studies reveal that the best ways of getting a traineeship or work are:

To make a direct contact with a person/ an employer who can supply a position

To use own contacts and try to approach employers through acquaintances

All these measurements require some amount of activity on one's part.
